Inspired by an Egyptian Queen from ancient history, may I now present to you, Limited Edition Aurora-Sky by Laura Lee Eagles, now, Princess Merneith by Michelle Easden.
Princess Merneith was an Egyptian Queen who reined in the 1st Dynasty whose name means. Princess Merneith is a reborn doll created with a dramatic, "hyper-real" appearance. Inspired by ancient Egyptian art history, Merneith has been created with an unforgettable appearance and beauty like no other. Not only is her appearance regal but her name is as well.Laura Lee Eagles has created a stunning reborn doll mold which has given me a wonderful opportunity to create a regal looking baby Princess. The hair has been rooted accentuating every hair follicle through both the painting process and the rooting.
The super soft medium brown kid mohair has been trimmed but kept longer with a delicate wave to the hair. The mohair can be styled either straight or wavy. The hair and head has had reborn approved waterproof glue applied on the inside of the head to secure the rooted hair. The eyebrows have been rooted and brushed away to create a barely there eyebrow and to draw the viewers eye to Princess Merneith's dramatic eyes.
Merneith's eyelashes have been attached, glued and secured from base to the tip of the lash extensions. Merneith's complexion is that of a new preemie baby weighing four pounds, fifteen ounces, 18 inches long. Merneith not only resembles a preemie baby but has the weight of one as well. Many hours have been dedicated to creating the thin layers of reborn approved Miracle Blend Air Dry paint. The doll kit has been prepped, painted and varnish has been applied to the paint to ensure that it is archival. Merneith's complexion looks amazing wearing every colour and compliments her elegant blue grey glass eyes. The belly plate includes a wet looking embillical cord created with extra gloss.The ears, the lashes, the lips, and the embilical cord all have a gloss finish. The paint has a satin like finish with minimal dry skin created areas using the dry skin paint. Mernieth has been weighted with glass beads and high quality poly-fil.
As well, her head and limbs have been weighted making her feel unbelievably real. Merneith's gown and matching cape have been selected to exhibit elegance and royalty. After extensive doll research and studying doll complexions, as well as collecting dolls for a lifetime, I feel that I have brought the best of doll history and art history together to bring you baby, Princess Merneith.
Every decision made regarding this doll has involved a lot of time and strategy to create the most aesthetically pleasing doll. The skin has a intentional satin and gloss finish which has been created with multiple layers of air dry varnishes. Many additional layers of varnish have been added to make the doll archival. Every paint colour used on the doll has been mixed to create a wide colour spectrum and to ensure it is an original reborn. The vinyl has been prepped and primed using only the best professional quality air dry products and it is as archival as the oil based finishes. Princess Merneith has been protected from airborne pollutants and ultraviolet damage. The ultraviolet protection assists in improving the lightfastness and ensures that the paint is preserved.My decision to use air dry paint for this reborn instead of heat set is a serious decision. I believe that the end results are both comparable. Having used both the Genesis heat set and the Miracle Blend air dry, I have found that there are many great products in the air dry product line that are really effective. Another part of my decision has been based on the health concerns surrounding the heat set process in doll making. I believe that air dry paint application is going to lead in the future of reborning.
This doll is not recommended for children under the age of 14. Handmade, original work of art, realistic doll has been created with the true Reborn/Art/Doll Collector in mind. Princess Merneith is an Heirloom and not a play toy. Much like a canvas painting that you would admire and care for this reborn doll is to be admired on display.
