For the final layer I use Genesis heat set matte varnish among a few other ing. Mine is the old formula which is better quality! It is also a combination of a few ingredients that I came up with created by me. All from old stock Genesis heat set paints, mediums and varnishes. It does not feel rough as in sandpaper but it is strong enough to protect the paint underneath.
I have a great stockpile of the original Genesis heat set paints so I have not gotten any of the new types. I take much pride in my dolls and I have come up with my own formulas and color variations over the years in the mixtures of GHSP paints, mediums, varnishes, thinners, thickeners, etc. Each layer is properly baked at the proper temperatures and properly cured, resulting in a strong layer to protect the paint underneath.
